Kay Ruebel was born October 23, 1937, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Morrisey) Williams.

She graduated from Hayden High School in Topeka, KS in 1955 and St. Mary College, Sisters of Charity School of Nursing in Leavenworth, KS in 1958 and attended the University of Northern Iowa. On May 14, 1960, she was united in marriage to Leon C. Ruebel at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka.

She was a home care nurse with the Grundy County Public Health Nursing Agency from 1976-1988, then the Western Home Care from 1988-1989, then Allen Home Health Services from 1989-1991 and finally with Cedar Valley Hospice from 1991until her retirement in 1998. She was a past board member of the Cedar Falls Historical Society.

Kay is survived by her husband, Leon of Cedar Falls; son, Rick (Bonnie) Ruebel of Waverly; daughter, M. Christine (Maurice) Ruebel-Marshall of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Staci A. Ruebel, Megan M. Ruebel, Maya E. Ruebel-Marshall, Joshua D. Ruebel and Maurice O. "Reece" Ruebel-Marshall; and sister, Elizabeth V. (Don) Wunder of Topeka, KS.

Kay died Friday, June 17, 2005, at her home in Cedar Falls after a long battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Randell.
