LA PORTE CITY — Alfred G. Elliott, 80, of La Porte City, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Manor Care Health Services of leukemia.

He was born April 10, 1933, in rural La Porte City, son of Uri Richard and Wilma Smith Elliott. He married Carol Lee Weiland on Dec. 29, 1956, in Allison.

He was a lifelong farmer, retiring in 2003. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the La Porte City American Legion Post 3983.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Kyle (Mike) Fidler of Highland Ranch, Colo., and Cheryl (Bob) Rose of Midland, Mich.; three grandchildren, Jessica and Bobby Rose and Kristen Fidler; a sister, Ivon Feuerbach of Dysart; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services: noon Sunday at American Lutheran Church, La Porte City. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until services Sunday at the church. La Porte City Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
