Takes Own Life

Funeral services are pending at the Kearns-Dykeman Chapel for William Guy (Doc) Burkholder, 66, of 928 Henderson Ave., who was found dead at his home about 4:45 p.m. Friday of a-self-inflicted shotgun wound.

Police received a report of a shooting at that address and when they arrived they found Mr. Burkholder dead. Dr. Paul O'Keefe, county medical;examiner, ruled the death was a suicide. Police said Mr. Burkholder apparently shot himself in the throat with a sawed-off shotgun The shotgun, a 12-gauge, had the barrel sawed off so, that it was about two feet in length.

William Guy Burkholder was born Jan. 31, 1904 at Mt. Sterling, the son of James and Zelda Walker Burkholder. Mr. Burkholder had been married and divorced.

Surviving are three children: two daughters, Patricia and Rosemary and one son, James; three brothers, C. E. of 719 Mendota St.; Ben of Pocahontas, Ark. and Don; of Gilbertville; and one sister, Mrs. Mae McKean of Estherville.

Mr. Burkholder was reported to have been in ill-health for many years. He had been engaged in the business of salvaging automobile metal and parts.
