WATERLOO - Francis Marion Barnes, 60, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Waterloo, died Dec. 23, 2001, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center, New Port Richey, of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Chillicothe, Mo., son of Ira and Faye Maree Tanner Barnes. He married Kay White on Dec. 28, 1960, in Waterloo.

Mr. Barnes was a veteran of World War H, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a master watchmaker and owner of Barnes Jewelers. He was a charter member and past national director of the American Watchmaking Institute; founding member of the American Air Museum in Britain; past commander of the All State Veterans of Foreign Wars; past state commander of the Disabled American Veterans; past president Air Force Association; and was past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus St. Thomas Aquinas Council.

Survived by his wife; a son, Robert of Chicago; and two sisters, Edna Wagner of Chandler, Ariz., and Alice Barnes of Flagstaff, Ariz.

Graveside services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of services.
