WATERLOO - Mary E. Irvine, 82, of Friendship Village, died there Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Buckingham, daughter of Thomas and Kathleen Alcorn Irvine. She graduated from Geneseo High School with the class of 1943, then graduated from Tarkio College, Tarkio, Mo., with a teaching degree. After teaching for a few years in Tarkio, she moved to Waterloo and taught for the Waterloo schools, retiring in 1987. She was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to many groups.

Survived by a brother, William (Burnetta) Irvine of Waterloo; two nieces, Kathy (Don) Rasmusson of Cedar Falls and Connie Crandall of Clinton; two nephews, Tom (Sherry) Irvine of Buckingham and Mike (Val) Irvine of Cedar Rapids; four great-nephews, Nick, John, Jeremy and Jeff; and three great-nieces, Trisha, Jenny and Megan.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, with burial in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.

Memorials may be directed to Westminster Presbyterian Church Library.

Mary enjoyed traveling, cake decorating and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
