Marian G. Christensen was born July 2, 1930, in New Hartford, Iowa, the daughter of Clayton Alvin and Marian Geraldine (Mason) Chapman.

She graduated from Hudson High School in 1948. On October 25, 1952, she was united in marriage to Vernon J. Christensen in New Hartford. Prior to marriage, she was employed at the Hudson State Bank and then as bookkeeper for Vern's 66 in Hudson and also was in the ticket office at the National Dairy Congress in Waterloo, retiring in 1988.

Marian is survived by her husband, Vernon of Hudson; son, Robert Allen Christensen of Hudson; daughter, Cheryl Lee Christensen of Naperville, IL; three grandchildren: Robert James and Jeremiah Q. Christensen, both of Greeley, CO and Emily Ann Christensen of Lyon, WI; six brothers: Kenneth C. (Mary Ann) Chapman of Goldfield, Donald P. (Elaine) Chapman of Cedar Falls, Vernon D. (Dorothy) Chapman of Wonewac, WI, Harold A. (Janet), Larry L. (Carol) and Gregory R. (Kathy) Chapman, all of New Hartford and seven sisters: Darlene L. (Floyd) Jordan of Cedar Falls, Margaret O. (Ferdinand) Michaels and Nancy L. (Jerry) Kahler, all of Waterloo, Shirley A. (Dale) Weigand of Dubuque, Rose E. (Robert "Butch") Thorne of Parkersburg and Janet R. (Donald) Groeneveld and Lynda K. (Ron) Southard, all of Aplington.

Marian died Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
