WATERLOO — Robert Duane Salsbury, 72, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, June 4, 2013.

He was born Jan. 18, 1941, in Charles City, son of Ray and Edna Rentz Salsbury. He married Beverly Ann Knox on Sept. 14, 1959, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She died Sept. 10, 1964. He then married Suzanne Josette Wilson on April 16, 1966, in Waterloo.

He graduated from Waterloo West High in 1958 and attended Wartburg College. Mr. Salsbury worked as a tool and die designer for 54 years. He retired from Schoitz Engineering Works in Waterloo in 2011. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, a past president of the Cedar Falls Trap League, a member of Odd Fellows, a past president of TCCSSC (Cocker Spaniel Club) and the Waterloo Kennel Club.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Susan (Jeffery) Johnson of Moore, Okla., and Jane (Rocky) Pepperling-Preece of Cedar Falls; two sons, Ronald (Lori) of Underwood and Ray (Lori) of Boone; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Carolyn (Robert) Scheppler of Mason City.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

He enjoyed deer hunting with rifle and a bow, an AKC dog show, judging for sporting breeds and part of the toy breeds.
