WATERLOO — Genevieve Francis, 85, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Clarksville, daughter of Sam and Elizabeth Grimmius Drenth. She married John Stern at the Little Brown Church in Nashua; they later divorced. She then married Albert Francis in Waterloo; he preceded her in death.

She graduated from Clarksville High School. She was employed by and later retired from Chamberlain Manufacturing as a machinist. She was then employed at Sure Care where she took care of the elderly.

Survived by two sons, Joe (Janice) Stern of Waterloo and Dale (Leslie) Stern of Ankeny; a daughter, Gloria Conner; six grandchildren: Jeff, Jessica, Jesse, Andrea, Matthew and Grant; three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Chloe and Lindsay; a brother, Lowell (Phyllis) Drenth of Waukon; and two sisters, Arvilla Devine of Evansdale and Charlene Whiteside of Waverly.

Preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ben, Charles and Lawrence Drenth; and a sister, Jeanette Drenth.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Garden of Memories. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the chapel.

A memorial fund is being established.

Genevieve enjoyed gardening — she had a special liking for African violets — and fishing, and she loved her family dearly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
