WATERLOO - Norvin M. "Gil" Gillispie, 83, of Manor Care Health Systems, died there Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Seibert, Colo., son of Ralph and Ina Corder Nightingale Gillispie.

Mr. Gillispie was a self-employed carpenter, specializing in cabinet-making and remodeling for many years in the area. He also served as a captain with the U.S. Army on a tugboat on the Pacific during World War II.

Survived by a special friend, Janet Wagner of Waterloo; and a sister, Dorothy G. Berger of Denver, Colo.

Preceded in death by three sisters: Elaine Gupton, Leila Hicks and Oleta Hollman.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Friends may call for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
