Kenneth Eugene "Gene" Grassley

Kenneth Grassley 61, of New Hartford, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Veteran's Administration Hospital, Iowa City, of cardiac arrest; survivors include a brother, Chuck of New Hartford; and two sisters, Bunny Wiegmann and Lois West, both of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis "Bud;" services at 1 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, temporarily located at 204 W. Seerley Blvd., Cedar Falls, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls; graveside military rites conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Mr. Grassley received a bachelor's degree in 1962 and a master's degree in 1964 from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls; he received a law degree from Drake University in 1974; he taught at East Waterloo High School, Waterloo, worked for Sunray DX, then was a research associate at the Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Iowa; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.
