ASIA F. COLVIN

Asia F. Colvin, 77, died at 4 a. m. Tuesday at his home, 1418 Black Hawk street, from a complication of diseases incident upon advanced age.

Mr. Colvin, who moved to Waterloo in 1873, had been a brick layer and stone mason for 50 years. He retired in 1928.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Bros'. chapel with Rev. J. Richmond Morgan, pastor of First Congregational church, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Elmwood cemetery.

Asia F. Colvin was born April 23, 1855, in Crawford county, Pennsylvania. He came when a small boy to La Porte City and later moved to Waterloo.

He married Miss Henrietta Pettit Jan. 1, 1878, at Waterloo. She preceded him in death April 25, 1919.

Surviving are a son, George Colvin, 73 Thirteenth street west; six daughters, Mrs. Ruth Yockey, 1416 Black Hawk street; Mrs. Gertie Coon, 1418 Black Hawk street; Mrs. Edith Gustafson, 1019 1-2 Fourth street east; Mrs. Jessie Polyard, 77 Thirteenth street west, and Mrs. August Wyenhold and Mrs. Ed Stewart, both of Lindsey, Cal.; two brothers, Hiram Colvin, 1427 Black Hawk street, and Clark Colvin, Tulsa, Okla.; 20 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A daughter, Nona, and a son, Roy D., preceded their father in death.

Note: Most often referred to as Asa F. Colvin, Seymour Asa Fremont Colvin also went by Seymour, Acie or just the initials, A. F. He has been found identified as Asia, Gene, Heng and Heenan. Whether he or others were the source of the latter is unknown.
