Virgil Wayne Bredow, 89, passed away May 28, 2013, at Minneapolis Veterans Home.

Born in Denver, Iowa, Feb. 3, 1924, to Laura and Max Bredow. Married Vernett Smith in Waterloo on June 8, 1947.

Survived by his wife, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; son Steven (Debbie) Bredow of Waterloo; sister Lauretta (Vincent) Cutler of Waterloo; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother Vernon; and a daughter, Valette Finger.

After graduating from Waterloo East High School in 1942, Virgil entered the Army and served in the European theater with the 92nd Signal Battalion. After his discharge in 1945, he became a dental technician and then co-owner of Waterloo Prosthetic Co. retiring in 1987.

In 1992 Virgil and Vernett became residents of Eden Prairie

Memorial services will be Friday, June 7, at 11 a.m. in Peace Chapel at Minneapolis Veterans Home, 5101 Minnehaha Ave. South, Minneapolis, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be later in Waterloo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Eden Prairie United Methodist Church or Minneapolis Veterans Home.
