HUDSON — Alfred Raye “Al” Albert, 59, of Golden Valley Minn., formerly of Hudson, died Sunday, May 26, at home with family and friends.

He was born July 2, 1953, son of Leeward and Elsie Petersen Albert.

He graduated from Hudson High School in 1971 from Wartburg College in 1975 with a degree in music education and a minor in Spanish. He later graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a master’s degree in art.

Survived by three siblings: Jerome (Kathy) Albert of Cedar Falls, Becky (John) Bruckner of Omaha, Neb., and Brian (Robin) Albert of Glenwood; , his partner, Jon Hampton of Golden Valley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister Brenda in infancy.

Services: will be held a later date. His body was donated to the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

Al was an artist, an art and music teacher, a linguist, an avid gardener and world traveler. He was one of the first recipients of a kidney transplant in 1979 from his sister Becky. Through his kindness, his devotion to continuous learning and sharing, and his respect for all people, he deeply touched many lives as a teacher, a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and beloved friend.
