WATERLOO - Gladys M. Hurd, 90, of Waterloo, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

She was born April 30, 1918 in rural Butler County, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Mathilda (Landers) Meyne. She married Oscar C. Hurd on April 15, 1939 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He died November 3, 2004. Mrs. Hurd taught country school and later sold real estate in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area.

Survivors include daughters, JoAnn Chapman of Waterloo and Judy (Virgil) Kuhlmann of Readlyn; son James (Judy) Hurd of Waterloo; five grandchildren; four step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and twelve step great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her sister, Bernice McDonald and brother, Melvin Meyne.

Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo, with interment in the Hillside Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls and also one hour prior to the services at the church.
