Funeral services for George H. Newell, 74, of 530 Wallgate Avenue, who died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday at his home of complications following a stroke, will be at 1:30 p. m. Saturday at Parrott & Wood funeral home.

He was born July 29, 1875. at Janesville, la, the son of Marion and Emily Newell. He married Martha Mahnke on Mar. 6, 1902, at Waverly, Iowa.

Following his marriage he farmed near Waverly until coming to Waterloo in 1919. He was engaged in the grocery business for several years and was employed as an elevator operator in the insurance building for the past two years.

He had been bedfast for the past eight weeks. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Olive Zimmerman, 700 West Fourth Street, and Mrs. Mae Yokum, of Van Nuys, Cal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Rev. S M Becker, pastor of the First Lutheran church, will officiate at the funeral services Saturday. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Waverly.
