WATERLOO - William R. "Bill" Blau, 82, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, April 26, 2005.

He was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Parkersburg, son of Ben H. and Grace R. Wildeboer Blau. He married Doris Kathryn Schneiderman on June 7, 1968, in Wheaton, Ill. She died Feb. 24, 1998. He married Margaret Lorene Norcott on Jan. 15, 2000, in Waterloo.

Mr. Blau worked as a Dyno operator at John Deere for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the Cedar Falls AMVETS.

Survivors include his wife, two stepsons, Ross (Iola) Schneiderman of Swea City and Larry (Paulette) Holmes of Fort Smith, Ark.; two stepdaughters, Gail Smith of Cass City, Mich., and Ruth (Brian) Kelleher of Waterloo; a brother, Jim P. of Shell Rock; six stepgrandchildren, 11 stepgreat-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Jerry Schneiderman; a daughter, Kathryn Blau; a son, William M.; and a sister, Betty Dreyer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
