Daniel A. Katalinich, 18, seaman first class in the navy Seabees, was killed in action April 20, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anthon Katalinich, 324 Sumner street, were informed in a telegram Thursday from the navy department. The notification stated that Seaman Katalinich was killed as the result of a plane crash while in performance of his duty and in the service of his country.

The remains, according to the telegram, have been interred in Allied territory outside the Katalinich continental limits of the United States pending cessations of hostilities.

Seaman Katalinich entered the navy on Aug. 5, 1943, and received boot training at Camp Perry, Va-, later being stationed at Davisville, R. L, until transferred from a base in New Guinea to an undisclosed
new location.

Daniel Anthony Katalinich was born in Waterloo on June 1, 1925, attended St. Mary's school and was
employed as a machinist by the Illinois Central railroad before enlisting.

Surviving are his parents; four brothers: Pfc. Steve, serving with the marine corps somewhere in the south Pacific, and Frank, John, Joseph, all at home; and three sisters: Mary Ann, Kathryn and Irene at home.
