WATERLOO — Milo J. Vande Krol, 84, of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Pavilion at Friendship Village Retirement Center of heart complications.

He was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Lynnville, son of Guert and Della Veldhuizen Vande Krol. He married Gladys Van Veldhuizen on Jan. 27, 1949, in Ottumwa.

He graduated from Sully High School in 1947. In 1957, he began his ministry as a traveling evangelist. He served in pastoral ministry at Hillside Bible Church, Oskaloosa, from 1974 until 2002 and later served as a visitation pastor in Waterloo and at Friendship Village. He was a member of Bethany Bible Chapel, Cedar Falls.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Gloria (Dave) Smith of Hudson and LaVonne (Jon) Mendenhall of Brookfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Justin (Wendy) Smith, Charity (Tony) Myers, Natalie and Nathan Smith, Seth (Stephanie) Mendenhall, Logen and Micah Mendenhall, Kevin (Amanda) Vande Krol and Joel Vande Krol; five great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Kindra, Nehemiah, Hannah Beth and Anthony; a daughter-in-law, Karen (Al) Manning of Hudson; a sister, Maurine Vander Kamp of Sully; a brother, Earl (Mary) Vande Krol of Sully; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Vande Krol of Amarillo, Texas, and Nola (Keith) Emmert of Pella.

Preceded in death by a son, Merlyn; an infant great-granddaughter, Alethia Joy Myers; and three brothers, Harold, Glen and Roy Vande Krol.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethany Bible Chapel, Cedar Falls, with burial in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.
