WATERLOO — Dorothy C. Wieser, 97, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Friendship Village Retirement Center.

She was born April 28, 1916, in New Sharon, daughter of Meredith and Archa Leonard Cooper. She married William L. Wieser on April 10, 1943, in Waterloo.

She graduated from high school in Columbus Junction in 1934. Mrs. Wieser was a teachers’ associate in the libraries of West Intermediate, West Ridge, Devonshire, Castle Hill and Greenbrier schools, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist, the Designers’ Sunday School and Ruth Circle. She also was a member of the Waterloo Historical Society and enjoyed working in the Friendship Village Library.

Survived by her husband; a son, James (Kimberly) of Burnsville, Minn.; two grandchildren, Eric Forsythe of Minneapolis and Melissa Bryan of Campton, Ky.; and a great-granddaughter, Jasmine Forsythe.

Preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; two brothers, Ralph Crawford and Harry Cooper; and four sisters, Clara Cooper, Hazel Burke, Iona Francis and Nona Walters.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Chapel, Memorial Park Cemetery, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Friendship Village Auxiliary.
