CEDAR FALLS - Amanda V. Sorensen, 96, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

She was born January 28, 1914 in Parkersburg, the daughter of Rient and Harmeka (Kruse) Peters. She married Andrew Sorensen on August 26, 1935. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1979.

She was employed in the housekeeping department at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1979.

Survivors include six nephews: Dave (Cindy) Peters, Robert (Cindy) Peters, Dennis (Linda) Peters, Marlyn (Inez) Peters, Eldon (Gena) Peters, and John (Carol) Harken; six nieces: Susan (David) Wishard, Margaret Ann Hart, Kathy Gaither, Kay (Jerry) Orlando, Florence Sommer, Charlotte Ingalls; and a sister-in-law, Esther Peters.

Preceded in death by five brothers: Fred, Claus, Raymond, Vernon and Robert Peters; and four sisters: Cora Harken, Annie Block, Margelet Peters and Ruth Scoggin.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, or United Church of Christ, Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation.
