WATERLOO - Harry James Keniston, 55, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center of an acute hemorrhage of the brain.

He was born Aug. 12, 1951, in Oelwein, son of Harry James and Ruth Regina Voelker Keniston Sr. On Aug. 11, 1973, he married Julie Ann Kunkle in Oelwein.

Mr. Keniston graduated in 1973 from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, with a degree in accounting. He worked in real estate and owned his own real estate company. He and his wife owned Amana Foods Store at the local shopping malls; were owners of Country Foods in Evansdale; and most recently owned Keniston Meats Wholesale.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Amy (Chris) Turner of Bethlehem/Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Jonathan (Emily) and Michael John, both of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Kyla and Josian Turner and Ellie Keniston; two half brothers, Thomas (Irene) Snyder of Brussels, Belgium, and Richard (Donna) Snyder of Concord, Calif.; and a half sister, Barbara (Harry) Beacom of San Clemente, Calif.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Heartland Vineyard Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

He enjoyed swimming, gardening and home improvement. Harry will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
