Funeral services for a former Waterloo resident are tentatively set for 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at LaMotte. Mrs. Mary Herrig, 87, died of a stroke at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at Crestview Nursing Home in Maquoketa.

She was born Feb. 13, 1881, at Dunnington, Ind., to Nicholas and Anna Tice Schons and resided in Waterloo until her marriage to William Herrig at Gilbertville on Sept. 15, 1908. The couple then moved to the Dubuque area.

Survivors, in addition to six children, 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, include a brother. Nick Schons of 217 Linden Ave., and three sisters: Mmes. Margaret Kurtz of 902 Mulberry St., Helena Duffy and Anna Bloes, both of W. 6th St.
