WATERLOO — Laverne D. Krizek, 90, of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 9, at ManorCare Health Services of natural causes.

He was born March 29, 1923, in Tama County, son of William J. and Louise Cizek Krezek. He married Albina A. Yuska on Jan. 21, 1947, in Clutier.

He graduated from Clutier High School in 1940 and Gates Business College in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Krizek owned Krizek & Krizek Accounting where he worked as an accountant with his son Bill Krizek for 30 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and was on the first Honor Flight out of Waterloo in 2012.

Survived by his wife; a son, John (Judi) of Waverly; a daughter, Bonnie (Mike) Hertges of Waterloo; a daughter-in-Law, Barb Krizek of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon (Leona) of Clutier.

Preceded in death by his parents; and son, William.

Family services: will be held at Memorial Chapel, Memorial Park Cemetery with flag presentation by VFW Post 1623 and American Legion Post 138, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Locke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
