WATERLOO — Sharron Louise Krebs, 67, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Goleta, Calif., of a pulmonary embolism.

She was born May 20, 1945, in Waterloo, daughter of John and Mildred Holmes Diehm. She married Martin Gene Krebs on Sept. 4, 1965, at Grace United Methodist Church in Waterloo.

Mrs. Krebs attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated from California Lutheran University with a degree in education in 1971. For more than 37 years she was an elementary school teacher in the Pleasant Valley School District, Camarillo, Calif. She was a member of AAUW and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a group of women educators. She volunteered for education-related activities around the Pleasant Valley School District from tutoring, to helping at graduation, to administering speech tournaments. She was co-president of Pleasant Valley Garden Club and treasurer of Channel Islands District of California Garden Clubs. She was also a member of women’s groups at Trinity Lutheran Church, Santa Barbara, and Mount Cross Lutheran Church, Camarillo.

Survived by her husband; a son, California National Guard SSG Martin Allan (Kambria Stephen) of Las Vegas; a daughter, Marsha Allison (Trent Bigelow) of Beverly Hills, Calif.; her mother, Mildred Diehm of Waterloo; a sister, Melissa (Jack) Stabenow of Waterloo; a brother, Curtis (Nancy) Diehm of Dubuque; four sister-in-laws: Lila (Windy) Rohwedder of Valley City, N.D., Barbara (Morris) Kratz of Cedar Falls, Delores Meyer of Newton and Luella (Merle) Puhrman of Iowa City; and a brother-in-law, Roger (Deborah) Krebs of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Preceded in death by her father; and a sister, Lonnie (Roger) Greve of Gladbrook.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to “Pleasant Valley Garden Club” for “Scholarship Fund,” in care of Sharron Krebs, P.O. Box 1373, Camarillo, CA 93011.

Sharron was a devoted and loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend and volunteer.
