J.W. BAGENSTOS DIES IN WATERLOO

Father of La Porte City Man Dies Suddenly in Waterloo

The sudden death of J. W. Bagenstos in the home of his son, C.J. Bagenstos in Waterloo last evening came as a shock to his family and friends. Mr. Bagenstos suffered a heart attack and did not rally. He had been in La Porte City prior to going to Waterloo and a short time ago suffered injuries to his head in a fall on the street here. Mr. Bagenstos was mentally alert for one his years and had it not been for his deafness, he would not have apperaed nearly as old as he was.

J. Wesley Bagenstos, son of John L. Bagenstos and Sarah (Kepchel) Bagenstos, was born February 24, 1850, in Chambersburg, Pa, and died December 7, 1938, aged 88 years, nine months and 15 days. His wife died in 1912, and since that time Mr. Bagenstos had lived alone, preferring to be independent. He looked after his property interests himself, and at intervals visited in the homes of his sons and other relatives. For the past few years he has maintained his home in Jesup.

Surviving are two sons, Earle of La Porte City and C.J. Bagenstos of Waterloo; one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Pingree of Deer Creek, Minn. two sisters, Mrs. ALbert Igou of La Porte City and Mrs. Katie Mogle of Minneapolis, and one brother, John Bagenstos of Brooklyn, Iowa.

Funeral services will be help on Saturday, complete arrangements awaiting word from relatives at a distance.
