EVANSDALE - Willis "Pete" LeRoy Swope, 83, of Evansdale, died Saturday, May 13, 2000 at horne of natural causes.

He was born June 22, 1916, in Oltumwa, son of Frank and Dorothy Meeker Swope. He married Ethyle Goldsberry on Dec. 24, 1935, in Waterloo. Mr. Swope was employed in the boning department at Rath Packing Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1978. He was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survived by his wife; a son, Tim Sr. of Elk Run Heights; a daughter, Joy Jones of Kingsville, Texas; and seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandsons.

Preceded in death by a son, James; a sister, Olive; an infant brother, and a grandson.

Services: 2 p.m. today at Grace Baptist Church, with burial following cremation in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Kearns. Huisman Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.
