EVANSDALE - Leonard Paul Block, 57, of Evansdale, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at home after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Waverly, son of Paul Edward and Margaret Anna Grebien Block. He married Virginia Goodman. They later divorced

Mr. Block was a U. S. Army veteran. He worked as an inspector at the John Deere Waterloo Plant, retiring in 1992

Survived by a son, William of Minneapolis; a grandson; his mother of Tripoli three brothers: Roger of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.. Virgil of Waterloo and Steven of West Des Moines; and five sisters: Ruth Smith of Bedford, Texas, Linda Hughes of Tripoli, Lois Pitz of Oelwein, LuAnn Weitzenkamp of Plainfield and Rebecca Smith of Fall River, Wis.

Preceded in death by his father.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Tripoli, with cremation to follow. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Military rites will be conducted by Brandenbug-Kmeger Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 40)3 of Tripoli.
