LA PORTE CITY — Thomas W. “Tommy” Elliott Jr., 95, of La Porte City, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born April 4, 1918, in Benton County, son of Thomas W. and Anna Kaiser Elliott Sr. He married Virginia E. Crummer on Dec. 7, 1940, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She died July 17, 2007.

Mr. Elliott graduated in 1938 from La Porte City High School and attended Iowa State University. He farmed in Geneseo until 1956, then moved to Liberty, Mo., where he was an order buyer of feeder cattle for Kansas City Stock Yard, retiring in the late 1980s. He relocated back to La Porte City in 2001.

Survived by: three sons, David (Laura) of Chino Valley, Ariz., Thomas III (Marsha) of Fullerton, Calif., and Mark (Bobbie) of Holt, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Rausch of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by: five brothers, George, Harold, Donald, Merle “Gene” and Elvin; and three sisters, Mable Zobel, Elizabeth “Toots” Niemeyer and Charlotte Elliott.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City.

Memorials: may be directed to the Cedar Valley Nature Trail, Black Hawk County Conservation Board, 1346 W. Airline Highway, Waterloo 50703.
