Father, Daughter Die in Car-Semi Collision

Cameron Edward Johnston, 79, of La Porte City, and his daughter, Mary Lou Jensen, 44, of Hudson, were killed Tuesday when their car collided with a semi tractor-trailer at the intersection of county roads V18 and E66 near Chelsea.

HUDSON — Joint services for Mary Lou Jensen, 44, of 10441 Hudson Road, and Cameron B. Johnston, 79, of 404 Walnut St., La Porte City, formerly of Hudson, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Hudson United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Jensen will be buried in Hudson Cemetery and Mr. Johnston will be buried at 2 p.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown.

They were killed Tuesday (Sept. 16) in a car-semi truck accident near Chelsea.

She was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Marshalltown, daughter of Cameron and Frances Keefer Johnston. She married Richard "Buzz" Jensen on April 28, 1967, in Nashua. She was employed at Crossroads Ford and for the past two years at the ABC Insurance Co., Hudson.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Debra Lynn Henricks of Reinbeck and Donna Rae Hansen of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a sister, Joanne Degener of 9902 Lincoln Road, Hudson; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Johnston was born Dec. 14, 1906, in Audubon, son of Joseph and Margaret Sharror Johnston. He married Frances Leah Keefer on Aug. 16, 1931, in Fulton, Ill. She died Jan. 13, 1969.

He was a self-employed food broker until he retired in 1967.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joanne Degener of 9902 Lincoln Road, Hudson; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Friends may call after noon Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Hudson United Methodist Church.
