WATERLOO — Melvin Hurley, 77, of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo and Waverly, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Mountain Vista Medical Center, Apache Junction.

He was born July 4, 1935, in St. Louis, son of Roy and Goldia Hurley. He married Helen Martin on July 3, 1955, in Big Creek, Mo.

Mr. Hurley was a supervisor at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 1985.

Survived by his wife; a son, Paul (Mary); two daughters, Peggy (Ron) Combs and Patty (Jeff) Long; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold (Joyce) and Terry (Barb); and two sisters LoRetha (Lennis) Willhite and Marie (John) Collins.

Preceded in death by a brother, Wayne; and an infant son.

Services: were April 28 at Countryside RV park Clubhouse, Apache Junction.

Memorials may be directed to charity of donor’s choice in his name.

Melvin loved his family and had a great sense of humor and loved practical jokes. He always made time for his hobbies, which included, in his younger years, camping, fishing, golf, and bowling. In his later years, Melvin enjoyed playing cards, relaxing, socializing and watching baseball. Melvin will be missed by his many friends and family members.
