Vernon H. Rausch

Services for Vernon H. Rausch, 85, of 438 Locust St., will beat 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Garden View Chapel with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Mr. Rausch died Friday night at Colonial Manor Nursing Center in LaPorte City.

He was born May 26, 1898, at Douglas Township, Bremer County, son of John J. and Effie Cruthers Rausch. He married Hazel Beckman Feb. 7, 1921, at Horton. She died in September of 1977.

Mr. Rausch was engaged in farming, and later worked in the heat treat department at John Deere for 20 years, retiring in 1953. He then returned to farming and retired in 1971.

He is survived by two sons, Burdette of La Porte City and Kenneth of Hudson; a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Matejka of 21132 Hawthorne Ave.; a brother, Paul of Nashua; a sister, Mrs. Etta Waite of Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; and 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the furneral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visitation also will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday.
