CEDAR FALLS — Lois N. Doddema Petersen, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at Western Home Communities Windermere.

She was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Denver, Colo., daughter of James F. and Minnie M. Montgomery Smith. She married Elso Doddema on Aug. 22, 1945, in Littleton, Colo. He died July 7, 1988. She married Leslie Petersen on Sept. 5, 1992, in Cedar Falls. He died Jan. 28, 2003.

Mrs. Petersen was a homemaker throughout her adult life and was a member of Fredsville Lutheran Church and Dike American Legion Auxiliary.

Survived by four daughters: Hazel Griffiths of Brooklyn, Shirley Bradford and Patricia (Robert) Biersner, both of Dike, and Carol Crouse of Des Moines; five stepdaughters: Sandra (Jerrold) Christensen of Dike, Shari (Gary) Schrage of Parkersburg, Bonnie Doty of Oelwein, Connie (David) James of Hazleton and Joan (Richard) Frisch of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren: Michelle (Kurt Walters) Bradford, Amy (Rob) Renes, Seth (friend, Rachel Palen) Biersner, Nick (Ashley) Biersner, and Steven Crouse; two great-grandchildren, Cole Hoing and Caleb Renes; numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fredsville Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment in Elmwood Cemetery, Dike. Richardson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be directed to donor’s choice.
