JACOB BAIER DIED IN CASTLE HILL MONDAY MORNING 4 O'CLOCK
FUNERAL WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON IN GERMAN M.E. CHURCH

Jacob Baier age 62, one of the early settlers of Gladbrook died at his home in Castle Hill, Waterloo at 4 o'clock Monday morning of a stroke following an illiness of five or six weeks.

He was born December 6, 1865 at Wittenburg, Germany. He came to the United States in 1893, settling at Reinbeck, Iowa. On Feb. 7, 1897, he married Miss Christina Mienders at Gladbrook, la. They moved to a farm near Gladbrook, where they resided until Nov. 24, 1926, when they moved to Castle Hill. [Waterloo]

He was a member of the German Evangelical church at Gladbrook and was affiliated with First Evangelical church here.

Surviving besides the widow are the following children: Adolph Baier, Waterloo; William, at home; Mrs. Hulda Holder, Charles City, In.; Mrs Charles Jlndrick, Gladbrook, la., and Harry, Aliene, Mary, Woodrow, Elmer, Ruth, Lois and Raymond all at home. Two grandchildren and three sisters also survive.

The body will remain at Petersen Bros.' mortuary till 9:30 a. m. Tuesday, when it will be taken to the family home in Castle Hill.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the home. Rev. O. M. Yaggy, pastor of First Evangelical Church officiating. The body will then be taken by automobile to the German Methodist Episcopal Church at Gladbrook, where further services will be held at 2 p.m. by Rev. Mr. Belling. Burial will be in the German Cemetery near Gladbrook.
