Bob was born at home on January 28, 1929 in Johnson, Nebraska, the second son of Spurgeon J. and Laura M. Schwiebert Rapp. He was baptized June 16, 1929 at Immanuel M. E. Church in rural Victor, Iowa.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1947. In the fall of 1949, Bob met his future wife, an acquaintance of his sister, Betty. Betty and Grace Mary Crowston rode the city bus to work at Rath Packing Company. Betty then introduced her brother to Grace. He married Grace on December 3, 1950, at First Baptist Church, Cedar Falls. They spent all of the married life in Cedar Falls.

Bob's parents and siblings resided in Lincoln, Nebraska until they moved to Manning, Iowa in 1930. From Manning the family moved to Coon Rapids, and then in 1932 a move took them to the family farm in Victor, Iowa. Bob has been a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1942 when his family moved to Cedar Falls from Victor. He started working at Waterloo Industry in 1949 and retired in 1991. Bob also worked part time security for 39 years, retiring in 2004.

He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. They were the light of his life. Once a year since 1987 he enjoyed traveling to Tucson, Arizona to visit Susie and her family. In Bob's teenage years he began enjoying his lifetime hobby of bowling. He has bowled on many leagues over the years and as a result has developed many friendships.

Bob died on November 7, 2006. Bob will be greatly missed by his many friends and loved ones.

Bob is survived by his wife, Grace, two daughters, Cindi and husband, Randy Hartman of La Porte City, Sue and husband, Steve Jans of Tucson, Arizona; one son, David and wife, Ronda of Cedar Falls; grandchildren: Heather Hartman-Long and husband, Rob Long, Tiffani Hartman, Brooke Hartman, Chad Jans, Tyler Jans, and Hannah Rapp and two great grandchildren, Michael Syphrit and Rylie Long. He is also survived by one brother, John and sister-in-law, Beverly of Cedar Falls and one sister, Elizabeth and brother-in-law, Richard Shiels of Fairbault, Minnesota.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
