[Semi-Weekly Reporter, Waterloo, Iowa, Tuesday, February 18, 1908]

Thomas Dobson passed away at his home in Bast Waterloo township, four miles west of the city, at 7:40 Sunday evening, after a sickness which lasted four weeks. In the death of Mr. Dobson one of the oldest and most respected citizens of the county has been remembered, who in early days had much to do with the building of this city and Cedar Falls as well. Coming to the county with his parents in 1854. the family settled upon the present farm which deceased has made his continuous home until his death and where he experienced many of the privations and difficulties with, which the early settlers had to contend.

He was a strong adherent of the golden rule and during his long and useful life in the community has drawn about him a wide circle of friends who were faithful watchers at his bedside during his illness and who will hasten to extend consolation to the family in their irreparable loss.

Mr. Dobson's recent sickness dates from January 14, when he was taken with a severe attack of grippe, which was followed by complications that rendered an operation necessary. This took place January 26, and he seemed to rally with fairly good prospects for recovery. During the forepart of last week his heart began to fail and he was afflicted with kidney trouble which was more than his weakened condition could withstand. He sank rapidly until the end came Sunday evening.
