WATERLOO — Donald E. Wilkins, 81, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

He was born July 20, 1931, in Waterloo, son of William and Elsie Griefnow Wilkins, Jr. He married Jeannine Miller on Jan. 9, 1951, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School. He worked for IPS in gas services and then at MidAmerican Energy, retiring after 40 years of service.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Deborah Denney; and a brother, William M. Wilkins III.

Survived by his wife of Waterloo; a son, Don (Sheila) Wilkins of Fairbank; two daughters, Brenda (Dan) Mettner of Waterloo and Tempest (Kevin) Fischels of Gilbertville; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity American Lutheran Church, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
