CEDAR FALLS — Lyndell Linda Stevens, 79, of Monticello, Ind., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at Rosewalk Commons, Lafayette, Ind.

She was born June 24, 1933, in Corning, Ohio, daughter of Herbert A. Locke and Iva M. Thornton Locke. She married Gerald A. “Gerry” Stevens on June 13, 1953, in Portsmouth, Ohio.

She was a 1951 graduate of Portsmouth High School, Portsmouth. She attended the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Ind., and received her degree in art, graduating in 1955. She later received her master’s degree from Ball State University. Mrs. Stevens had taught art more than 40 years. She taught at Wolcott and Chalmers, Ind., and retired from Cedar Falls Community Schools, Cedar Falls, after 27 years. She was a professional artist and had painted several murals in the Monticello community. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Delphi.

Suvived by her husband of Monticello, Ind.; a daughter, Bettina “Tina” (Greg) Weller of DeWitt; a son, Warren “Rusty” (Brenda) of Goshen, Ind.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Preceded in death by three sisters.

Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church of Delphi, Delphi, Ind., with private family burial in Orchid Park Cemetery, Wanamaker, Ind. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello, Ind., and an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
