WATERLOO — Mary D. Jackson, 88, of 711 Vinton St., died at home Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 31, 1911, in Buxton, daughter of Henry P. Burkett and Mary Wheller. She married LeRoy Wright 1930 in Waterloo; they were later divorced. She married Paul Jackson in 1935 in Waterloo.

Mrs. Jackson had been employed at Webbeking Bakery, Allen Hospital and the Russell Lamson Hotel.

Survived by her husband; three daughters: Barbara J. Adams, Jacqueline E. Ellis and Josephine D. Boykin, all of Waterloo; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Caldwell of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; six brothers: John, Clifford, Lewis, William, Phillip Jr. and Oliver, and four sisters: Josephine Jenkins, Ruth Anderson, Doris Wilcher and Marjorie Burkett.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Payne Memorial AME Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Chapel committal services will be in Temple of Memories. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Sanders Funeral Service and at the church after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 711 Vmton St., where they will receive friends.
