WATERLOO — Ray J. Miller, 81, of Mallard Point, formerly of Orange Township, died Thursday Jan. 30, 2003, at Allen Hospital of a heart attack.

He was born June 2, 1921, in Edom, Va., son of J. Saylor and Katherine Stoner Miller. He married Virginia Smith Sept. 19, 1942, in Waterloo. Mr. Miller farmed in Orange Township for 53 years.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Donald R. (Gail) of Grinnell and Joe A. (Mary) of Waterloo; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (Helen) of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by a son, Kent A.; an infant son, Byron; his twin brother, Roy; two brothers, Gene and Joe; and a sister Ruth Miller.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren, with burial in Orange Township Cemetery Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

A memorial fund will be established.
