WATERLOO —Verla E. Stumme, 74, of Ravenwood Health Care Center, died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at Allen Memorial Hospital, of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in rural Fort Dodge, daughter of Frank and Blanche Cook Guild. She married Estel Truman Patterson. They were later divorced. She married Ewald Stumme.

They were later divorced. She had been a medical technician at Pinecrest and Country View for many years, retiring in 1987.

Survived by four sons: Dennis Patterson and Arlo Patterson, both of Waterloo, Jay Patterson of Denver and Kevin Patterson of New Braunfels, Texas; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leslie Guild of Arkansas, Frank "Whitey" Guild of Waterloo and Bill Brenning of Waterloo; and a sister, Gcraldine Ritchie of Hansel.

Services: 30 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories. Friends may call at from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
