HUDSON — James J, "Jim" Rhoades, 58, of Marion, formerly of Hudson, died at Home Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, of a heart attack.

He was born Feb. 25, 1948, in Hudson, son of Leo and Ruby Redfearn Rhoades. He married Sandy Scarbrough, and they later divorced. He, married Deb Schrier, and they later divorced.

Mr. Rhoades graduated from Hudson High School in 1966. He worked as a security guard for Per Mar Security Services in Cedar Rapids. He was a corporal in the US. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his companion of 16 years, Janie McGowan of Marion; two daughters, Lisa, (James) Schacht of Lake Worth, Fla, and Tami (Chris) Langham of Waterloo; a son Jesse of Waterloo; three grandchildren; his mother of Hudson; two sisters, Janet Niedert of Carpiriteria, Calif, and Jennifer (Craig) Messer of Gilbert, Ariz., two brothers, Jerry (Sharon) and Jeff (Erlene), both of Hudson; and a brother-in-law, Jim Billerbeck of Hudson.

Preceded in death by his father; a sister, Judy Billerbeck; a brother-in-law, Larry Niedert; paternal grandparents, Charles and Frances Rhoades; maternal grandparents, Harry and Irene Redfearn; and a nephew, Scott Rhoades.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted by Hudson AMVETS Post 82, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Public visitation from 11 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.

A memorial fund will be established.
