WATERLOO - Thomas H. Kersch, 67, of Dubuque, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, of natural causes.

He was born May 13, 1934, in Dixon, ILL, son of Harold and Marjorie Wilson Kersch. He married Jeannine Haas on Nov. 22, 1956, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque.

A 1960 graduate of Loras College, Mr. Kersch began his insurance career as an adjuster for State Farm Insurance Co. He then owned and operated the Northeast Iowa Claim Service in Waterloo, and later an auto dealership in Sumner. Most recently Mr. Kersch owned and operated the Idle Hour Tavern and Restaurant for 25 years, and was also an active life insurance agent. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army

Survived by his wife; a son, Todd of Dubuque; two daughters, Tammy Redies of Sumner and Beth of Dubuque.

Preceded in death by a son, Matthew; and a brother, Michael.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, both in Dubuque. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, Dubuque, where there will be a 3 p.m. wake service.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
