EVANSDALE — William E. “Bill” Kane Sr., 91, of Evansdale, died at his home Friday, March 22, 2013.

He was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Coggon, son of Fred and Alice Plimpton Kane. He married Virginia Scott on May 2, 1942, in Schuyler County, Mo.; they later divorced. He married Vernieta Jeane Keller on April 6, 1947, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She died Oct. 18, 1995.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Kane worked as a mechanic and welder at Keller Implement, Independence, as a truck driver for Sun Oil Co. and was a self-employed mechanic.

Survived by three daughters: Diane Nathem of Keokuk, Kate (Mark) Durnan of Elgin and Teri (Chuck White) Kane White of Oelwein; a son, William E. II (Roberta) of Waterloo; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herb of Evansdale.

Preceded in death by both wives; two sisters; three brothers; three grandchildren; and a daughter, Jean

Family-directed Celebration of Life service: 1 p.m. April 27 at Evansdale AMVETS
