DECORAH - David Joe Alcock, 46, of Decorah, died at home Sunday, April 3, 2005.

He was born Aug. 21, 1958, in Waterloo, son of Leland and Thelma Hemingson Alcock. He graduated from Tripoli High School, Tripoli, in 1976, and earned his bachelors degree in industrial technology from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, in 1979. He earned a masters degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1986.

Mr. Alcock began teaching high school and junior high industrial arts and assisted coaching varsity level sports in the Bondurant-Farrar Schools, Bondurant, from 1980-1984. He taught high school computer science and coached seventh- and eighth-grade football in the Norwalk Community Schools, Norwalk, from 1985-1990. From 1991-2004 he was the information technology director for the Howard-Winneshiek School District, Cresco. In 2004, he began work as the manager of technology for the Decorah Community Schools. He also worked as a technology consultant for Northern Trails Area Education Agency, Clear Lake, from 1984-1985 and 1990-1991.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry; a son, Matt Alcock of Decorah; two daughters, Emily and Rebecca Alcock, both of Decorah; his parents of Waverly; a sister, Bonnie (Ray) Joecken of Waverly; and two brothers, Al (Cathy) of Mason City and Rick (Sue) of Oskaloosa.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Decorah Lutheran Church, with burial in Phelps Cemetery, Decorah. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Fjelstul Funeral Home, Decorah, and for an hour before ?services Wednesday at the church.

A memorial fund has been established.
