WATERLOO — Eileen Kay McGuire, 86, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Martin Center of the Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls.

She was born Feb. 8, 1927, on a farm near Raymond, daughter of John and Emma Reuter Welter. She married Raymond McGuire on July 22, 1947, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Waterloo.

She was employed at Jane’s Florists for 10 years, specializing in wedding arrangements. She has been a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Survived by her husband of Waterloo; two sons, Dennis of Portales, N.M., and Kevin (Kandace) of Ankeny; three daughters: Colleen (Richard) Nolta of Brandon, Mary Sucre of Rome, Ga., and Janet Udelhofen of Camdenton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Dale (Marie) Welter of Fairfax, Va., Raymond “Skip” (Donna) Welter of Lamont and James “Jim” (Marilyn) Welter of Masonville; and a sister, Dorothy Erger of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by four brothers: Donald, Alvin, Jerome and Lawrence Welter; and a sister, Geneva O’Donnell.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 6:30 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Alzheimer’s Association.

Eileen devoted her life to her husband, Bert, and her children and grandchildren. During their entire married life Eileen was an active participant in Blessed Sacrament Church. Eileen’s abiding faith and quiet and loving spirit shaped her life. Those who knew her well will remember her for her childlike enthusiasm for babies and children and her artistic gifts.
