EVANSDALE — Darrell L. Gaede, 76, of Evansdale, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 26, 1936, in Waterloo, son of Henry and Agnes Pattersen Gaede. He married Barbara Parks on Feb. 11, 1963, in Mound, Minn. She died May 23, 2011.

He graduated from East High School. Mr. Gaede was employed with Rath Packing Co., for 28 years, worked for John Deere and Covenant Medical Center and retired from IBP in 1999.

Survived by three sons: Edward Cobb of San Antonio, Phill (Sally) Cobb of Plano, Texas, and Todd (Kathy) Gaede of Waterloo; two daughters, Cindy (Dr. Rick) Taylor of Henderson, Texas, and Laural (Pete) Gaede-Neidt of Tama; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a special companion, Judy Rock of Jesup.

Preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Gaede; three brothers: Vern, Warren and Myron; four sisters: Norma Ohlmstead, Thelma Youngblut, Dorothy Carter and Darlys Whitteker.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday, both at the funeral home.

Memorials may be determined at a later date.
