WATERLOO — Joan Lea Klaseus, 76, of Kasota, Minn., formerly of Waterloo, died Feb. 9, 2013, in Lubbock, Texas.

She was born Sept. 24, 1937, in Mankato, Minn., daughter of Chet and Marie McGuire Rains. She married Richard Klaseus on Oct. 9, 1964, in Mankato.

Mrs. Klaseus sold Avon for many years and was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. She started and ran a support group for many years called Compassionate Friends, for parents who have lost a child.

Survived by her husband; a daughter, Julie (Steve) Serrano of Pecos, Texas; a son, Jeff (Jill) of Lexington, S.C.; 17 grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Arla) Rains of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by two daughters, Barb and Sarah; a son, Patrick; a brother, Wesley Rains; and a sister, Darlene Thurston.

Memorial services will be held in Mankato in June.
