Lester V. Martin, 69, of 217 Moir St., died Monday at 9:30 p. m. of a heart ailment at Schoitz Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since last Thursday.

A native of West Union, he was born July 29, 1886, a son of Hubert C. and Clara Sawyer Martin. He resided at West Union until 1905 when he came to Waterloo.

He married Vendla Nelson in this city March 12, 1915. He was a woodworker and for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1954 was employed at the Herick Refrigerator Co. He was a member of Central Christian Church.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Thomas N. Martin, of Evansdale, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Central Christian Church. The pastor, the Rev. Leo G. Potter, will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The body will be taken from the Kearn-Dykeman Funeral Home to the church Wednesday at 1 p.m.
