MURPHY, FRANKLIN, MOFFIT

[Waterloo Evening Courier and Reporter, Wednesday, February 9, 1916]

A telegram received yesterday by Mrs. Joseph Clark, 320 Western Avenue, from Manhattan, Kan., gave news of the death of Mrs. George Murphy, wife of the president of a bank in that city. She was 60 years old and had been ill for two or three months. The funeral will be hold tomorrow and burial will be In Manhattan.

Mrs. Murphy was the daughter of William Franklin, an early day resident of Spring Creek Township. Her parents came from Wisconsin when she was a small girl. Most of her life was spent In Black Hawk and Buchanan counties. For many years Mr. Murphy was cashier of the Farmers' bank at Jesup. The family removed to Manhattan serveral years ago.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her husband, an only child, the wife of Dr. Edward J. Moffit, four brothers and a sister, all residents of Kansas.
