Funeral Services Held Monday For Jean Klingaman

Funeral services for Donna Jean Klingaman, 71, of 4550 West 4th Street, Waterloo, were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2000 at South Waterloo Church of the Brethren. Pastor Shawn Replogle conducted the services. Burial was in Orange Township Cemetery with Locke Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She passed away Friday, April 21 at Hospice Home of cancer.

Donna Jean Tannreuther Klingaman was born July 7, 1928 in Waterloo, the daughter of Orville Lichty Tannreuther and Reba Kough Tannreuther.

Jean graduated from Orange High School and attended McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas, and UNI, Cedar Falls, obtaining a degree in teaching.

Hean married Dick Klingaman in June of 1949 at the South Waterloo Church of the Brethren in Waterloo.

She taught elementary school for 12 years in locations at Conrad, Iowa, and later in Waterloo at Orange, Cresthaven and Whittier Schools and also as a substitute.

Jean was a member of Waterloo Downtown Rotary Club, Chapter IU, P.E.O., and Republican Women. She served on the Black Hawk County COnservation Board 1980-1990; was appointed by the Governor to the Iowa Board of Corrections 1990-1995; served on the boards of Cedar Valley Lakes and Cedar Trail Partnership, Oragne 4-Seasons Club, Hawkeye Chapter of American Red Cross, and Goodwill Industries for many years. In 1980, Jean was named National Goodwill Volunteer of the Year.

A lifelong member of the South Waterloo Church of the Brethren, Jean enjoyed spending time with her family, weekend getaways at the cabin and houseboat on the Mississippi, and flower arranging.

Jean and Dick are parents of three children: Steve and his wife, Deb. Soo and her husband Chris Greiman, and Kris. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Wes and Tyler Klingaman, Dusty, Katie and Cassi Grieman, Josie Klingaman and Cord Overton; and her brother, Robert and his wife Charlotte Tannreuther, all in the Hudson-Waterloo area.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial fund will be established.
